Live Fully and Thoughtfully

Hey Fort Benders!!! Happy New Year!

Each year brings us yet another opportunity to push the reset button on our lives and renew our goals and life’s dreams. January is a time to reflect and reconsider and most of all forgive ourselves. As we are all gently wrapping up our holiday “pretties” and tucking them away; may I also suggest that you wrap the wish I’d done it’s and the I should have’s of 2006 and just let it go. Tuck them away and don’t dwell anymore on what you have not done! Free yourself to move to a more full filled place in your life both at home and with career. Might I suggest to make a list of all the things you want to accomplish over the next five years. Then define what goals and actions and yes…even changes you’ll have to make and how each year will bring you closer to your goals.

My father-in-law handed me some very good advice when I was first married over 16 years ago. Simply stated “swim with the current, not against it.” His teaching me to “do what you love” and… the “money will follow,” had turned out to be the KEY both to my success and happiness in life. I love to work with children and photograph their lives and I also love making a difference. Writing has been a welcome opportunity to merge other talents I did not even know I was capable of!

When I help others with my talents I have found I receive so many blessings both tangible and also indescribable. I stretch myself to be “out of my comfort zone” and try to stay connected spiritually somehow finding balance there in the private spaces in between. We all have places we should grow more in our lives.

Maybe you want to be closer to you’re children. Set a goal to take them out for a “date” one time per month. An opportunity to really talk to them and learn who they are takes time and yes… dedication. Every year the relationship will grow stronger because of a promise kept of time to a loving and impression- able child. Maybe you really wish you could rekindle the flutters of those first dates with you’re spouse. Plan a quarterly trip to anywhere (even our local Town Center Hotel…with room service of course!) and watch the fireworks re-sparkle!

Making a reachable set of goals is only possible when you set forth a manageable means of creating a life.

No one can eat an elephant in a day and you can’t be a complete success in one year…Life just doesn’t work that fast! If you look to the future and can say you are headed in the right direction then you are doing well..some of us have had to find the road before we can set the auto pilot and others have spent too much time on the auto pilot setting!

Living in the moment is what my New Year wish is for everyone to stop and really be in the moment of 2007. It will be a year full of hard work, and fantastic moments…for some it will be a year or trials and lessons…others will find perfect joy and peace. Whatever the new year brings let it be fully lived and thoughtfully planned and no regrets when the final second ticks its ending!

Take care of you!
