Top Ten Things to do in April

  1. In the garden plant seeds that attract butterflies and bees, transplant the seedlings you started back in late February to the outdoor garden. Begin propagating your basil by trimming it regularly placing it in water and once roots form take that back to the garden.
  2. With your closet you can open up your own store by using the app Poshmark and take pictures of shoes, bags, clothes and watch your closet turn into a money making machine! I started mine and within 4 days I had 970 following me and two sales! This is a great way to get money from those items barely worn or still with tags hanging in your closet!
  3. Take an afternoon and create a reading nook out in the garden or by the pool. Check on the pillows and wear on your outdoor furniture as now is a good time to paint those and purchase new pillows for a beautifully refreshed outdoor space.
  4. Grab a bottle of Vodka and Bourbon and take clippings from your herb garden as well as picking up some fresh vanilla bean. Place crushed fresh herbs such as spearmint, orange peels and scraped vanilla beans into small sealable containers and pour the alcohol over them and seal and keep in a dark dry place. In about 6 weeks you’ll have your homemade extracts for baking ready to go into the next best recipes!
  5. Treat yourself and a friend to a mani/pedi day. Spring weather means toes will be showing and you always want to have perfectly pedicured feet.
  6. On my nightside table now is Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life…And Maybe the World  by William H. McRaven and Girl, Stop Apologizing: A Shame-Free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals  by Rachel Hollis
  7. Tamales are usually a big production however I have perfected a way to make them hassle free and they freeze well so you can pop them into the oven for a quick meal anytime! (see recipe below)
  8. Commit to writing a love letter to your spouse for thirty days. It can be about your day, your thoughts about how the years together have changed you or something sexy. Present this collection of stories, memoirs in letter format in your own handwriting to him/her as a part fo an anniversary or special holiday this year. It’s always interesting to reflect back and see how your mood changes in the course of a thirty day time span and often in our busy lives we are right in front of one another but failing miserably to connect and communicate what we are feeling.
  9. Go for a walk without your electronics at least twice a week this month and take in the trees as they have grown into yet another spring. Listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy watching a bee or a butterfly make their way for their season, remembering that each moment is so very precious!
  10. As always spend time with your children asking them questions and learning what they are pondering about. You will be surprised at their commentary and their observations about the world around them and you just might learn a thing or two!
